Muscatine's Bayer U.S. - Crop Science's plant covers 585 acres along the Mississippi River. Approximately 160 acres of the site are available for habitat enhancement projects.
The Prairie Restoration Team manages four restoration and succession areas on the property and one of them is the Butterfly Garden.
A one-acre butterfly garden was constructed along the northern edge of the 40-acre prairie. The garden features numerous wildflower species that attract butterflies and other pollinators. The Louisa County Outdoor Adventure Club was invited to participate in bee block construction and installation. Within weeks there was evidence of bees using the boxes.
